Kristina Hicks-Hamblin is a freelance writer who specializes in gardening and horticulture content. She created her first blog in 2009 and has been writing professionally since 2019.

Kristina holds a Certificate in Native Plant Studies from the University of North Carolina Botanical Gardens, a Landscape for Life certificate through the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and the United States Botanic Garden, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is a Certified Permaculture Designer as well as a Square Foot Gardening Certified Instructor. Kristina has also completed coursework in designing native landscapes.

Prior to her current occupation writing about gardening, she spent many years working for family-owned garden centers, learning to sling hoses, propagate, transplant, and keep annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees properly watered.

Kristina draws on her previous career in environmental health to help ensure that her gardening guidance is built on a foundation that will be healthy for all. Through her writing, she enjoys helping others find ease and joy, particularly in their relationships with plants and animals. She currently lives and gardens in the high desert of Utah.
